I have written before about aging and ever since I turned 60 I have done a lot of reminiscing about my life. Finally after several years of self debate I might finally have a handle on this aging process. Anyway I held an election with the voices in my head being the voting ‘public’. There were debates, many discussions by various pundits and even a prayer meeting or two. Finally election day came along and after a thorough counting process the results are in.
First of all a little background. I am a child of the 1950s and 1960s. My late teen, early adult years were in the 1970s. That section on my life I refer to as the ‘wild and crazy years’ because from 18 -30 my pursuits in life revolved around broads, booze and having a good time. Mid 1980s at 30 I got married for the first time and until several years ago I guess I was the responsible, sometimes mature adult, parent and spouse. In other words the ‘settled down and not so wild years’. Those years encompassed two marriages, four children and family life was largely an interesting and fun challenge and ride. Then the empty nest time came along. With it a realization that I was getting older and somehow wasn’t sure what type of person I wanted to be. Sure I was still a parent and spouse but with no children at home I could also explore other avenues of life. Hmmm what should I do?
Well I did a historical retrospective of my life and the pre-marriage years I named the ‘crazy young man’ period. The marriage years were my ‘begrudgingly mature and responsible years’ and after much debate and a heated election in my mind I am now embracing what I call ‘the crazy old man’ years. Since I plan on living forever these years should be fun.
As a result of this election and decision my blogging will be embracing a more sarcastic, cynical and hopefully humorous tone. Since political correctness does not exist in my world, I outlawed it years ago, I hope people realize I like to use satire and skepticism when I write and I am not necessarily being mean. If not I guess it is what it is, but I believe in freedom of speech and embrace it fully. There will be serious subjects covered in a serious way and not so serious subjects in a lighthearted way.
Anyway it should be a fun adventure and I hope regular viewers stay with me on this journey. Some things will change some will remain the same. I am currently looking for ways to increase my readership and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I recently signed up with the site ‘Bloglovin’ and it seems to have some interesting possibilities. But more venues will be looked at in the near future.
Until the next post, see ya………………………………………………………………………………………….
The final voting count was 69 votes in favor of “Crazy Old Man” 9 votes for “Not so Crazy Old Man” and 1 No Decision. Due to high security and independent auditing no Russian interference in this election was found.
